IND vs SA, Fourth Test: Dale Steyn ruled out, Kyle Abbott may fill in

It is learnt that the speedster could not clear the fitness test ahead of the rubber

New Delhi: South Africa's premier fast bowler Dale Steyn's disappointing tour of India ended as he has been ruled out of the fourth and final Test match against India starting here on Thursday.

Steyn thus missed out on three out of the fourth Test matches after having suffered a groin strain in the first Test at Mohali. With South Africa set to host England at home, the team management thought that it would be wise to let their premier fast bowler take rest.

"I can confirm that Dale Steyn is not going to play this Test match. He has been such an impact player for us. The selectors have not yet decided on his replacement," skipper Hashim Amla told the mediapersons.

It is expected that either Kyle Abbott or Merchant de Lange might be inducted into playing XI in case Proteas don't want to go with the same side that played in Nagpur.

Teams have been bundled out under 100 in South Africa, nothing written: Virat Kohli

It is learnt that Steyn could not clear the fitness test as he needs to undergo further rehabilitation. Yesterday, he was seen walking around gingerly in his trainers.
