Work on second runway at Kempegowda International Airport to begin soon

BENGALURU: Due to the phenomenal growth in the air passengers, the work on the second runway and second terminal at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is in advanced stage of planning, said sources in Infrastructure Development Department (IDD).

The projected growth of the KIA, when it was constructed, was very low. The growth has been phenomenal and the air passenger capacity is likely to touch 18 million by the end of 2015, said sources.

The plans of the second runway are in in advanced stages to cater to the requirement of the air passengers. The work on the second runway will commence soon added sources.
