TDP leaders at odds over Yadadri as headquarters
Hyderabad: TD politburo member and former minister Uma Madhava Reddy on Tuesday said the state unit of the party should have debated the issue of formation of new districts in the state instead of allowing party leaders take independent decisions.
On Tuesday, another of the party’s politburo members, former minister Motkupally Narasimhulu, who hails from Yadagirigutta started an indefinite fast demanding a new district with Yadadri, the temple city, being named its headquarters, even as Ms Madhava Reddy announced a signature campaign to demand a new district with Bhongir, the constituency she had served for long, as its headquarters.
Ms Madhava Reddy told reporters that it was not desirable for the TS TD president L. Ramana and Legislature Party leader Errabaeli Dayakar Rao to visit Mr Narasimhulu at his fast camp and support his cause.
“Bhongir is the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha constituency headquarters already, if a new district is carved out from Nalgonda, its headquarters should be Bhongir and not Yadadri which is not even the headquarters for the Assembly segment,” she said.
Ms Madhava Reddy also announced the launch of the signature campaign demanding Bhongir district. A memorandum with the collected signatures would be submitted to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao soon.
