KOZHIKODE: Even though State Government with much fanfare kick started the project Kerala Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project, better known as the Jalanidhi, it has left it midway putting the NGO’s and self help voluntary groups in dilemma, who are the implementing agency of the project.
The laxity of the Government in timely implementation and functioning of the project funded by World Bank, has failed in settling and releasing the amount spend by several such organsiations, who stepped forward for the smooth implementation of the project.
At the same time, due to the frequent changing of the heads concerned with Jalanidhi project, World Bank has expressed their discontentment in funding the project, which also results in the standstill of the project for last one year and more than two years at several parts of the State.
It was in the year 1999 the first phase of the project designed to redefine premise of delivery of water and sanitation services, which lasted till 2008 and later the second phase of the project kick started during 2011.
