Rains make it hard for devotees of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams
The TTD too deployed additional staff on the ghat roads to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic
Tirumala: The incessant rains that lashed the temple town since Sunday evening caused immense hardships to devotees. The front side of the main temple was on Monday waterlogged, and the devotees who came out after darshan were forced to wade in knee-deep water.
The rain has led to a further dip in the temperatures., and this was visible from the way the children and elderly were shivering.
All roads, including the four-mada streets, were under a sheet of water. Low lying areas in many places were inundated.
Water Board chairman N. Narsimha Murthy said that 68 mm rainfall was recorded in Tirumala on Monday. He said all the dams are full to the brim even as inflows continue.
"Additional staff have been deployed to keep an eye on the water levels in the dams," Mr Murthy said.
Meanwhile, the TTD too deployed additional staff on the ghat roads to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic. Besides, JCBs and cranes have been kept on standby to clear any boulders that may roll down the ghats.
