State Congress leaders for MLA Vijayadharani’s removal
Chennai: A day after Congress MLA Vijayadharani alleged harassment at the hands of Tamil Nadu unit president E.V.K.S. Elangovan at Sathyamurthy Bhavan, his supporters Sunday sought her removal even as the legislator left to Delhi to, apparently, to build the case for the TNCC chief's ouster.
The state party unit circulated a statement in which it claimed that 49 of the 61 district Congress presidents including R. Mano (North Chennai), N. Rangabashyam (Central Chennai) and V.R. Sivaraman (Kanchi North), have sought the expulsion of S. Vijayadharani from the party for violating the party discipline and acting in a manner unbecoming of a Congress functionary. Strangely, unlike in the past, the statement only had the names and not the signatures of the district party presidents. Vijayadharani had alleged “harassment, use of filthy and defamatory language” by Elangovan.
