Officers shy away from Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: While several All India Service officers working in Central government and services of other states are opting to work in the state service, state cadre officers are planning to go to Central service on deputation. Some IAS officers have already applied for Central service while some others plan to follow them. A senior AP cadre IAS officer cited several reasons for opting for Central government service, including unwillingness to go to Vijayawada, the new capital region.
Meanwhile, in the last 13 months, over 10 AIS officers have joined the state service. These officers are from the Central government service, services of other states or from railway service. At the same time, AP cadre IAS officers are applying for Central government service on deputation.
The IAS officers have to apply to the state government and after approval by the Chandrababu Naidu government, they will be sent to the Centre, where any AIS officer will be taken on deputation for two years. This period may be extended by mutual consent of the Central and state governments.
At present, APPSC secretary A. Giridhar, labour department secretary G. Anantha Ramu and B. Kishore, secretary, General Administration Department, have applied for Central service.
