Kakinada: Red alert as Maoists paste posters in Agency
Kakinada: Maoists of Sabari Area Committee pasted posters in several villages in Chinturu, Nellipaka and other merged mandals of East Godavari district, adjoining Sukuma district in Chattisgarh, on Sunday, the eve of the 15th-year celebrations of the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA).
The organisation would hold week-long celebrations from November 2. The East Godavari district police has issued a Red Alert in the agency area. Maoist wall posters appeared on Sunday morning in the name of Sabari area committee, urging youths to join hands with Maoists in order to evolve a better society.
According to sources, the posters appeared in Kothapalli, Narsingapalli, Mallampet, Alligudem, Lakshmipuram etc in Chinturu district.
The committee has urged the people to celebrate PLGA week in a grand manner. A call has also been made to fight agai-nst tendencies like the Gujarat riots, as also the right wing agenda and plans of Hindutwa forces.
Meanwhile, the police says that the committee mainly focused on recr-uitment and general iss-ues, but not on particular individuals. The East Godavari district SP, Ravi Prakash, said all precautionary measures were being taken to curb Maoist activities.
Combing operations have been intensified in the Maoist infested areas in the villages as part of maintaining law and order. The police are scouting around tribal villages to nab Maoists.
Some of the sympathizers and suspects were taken into custody.ASP (operations) Ravi Sankara Reddy said the police department was taking steps to dissuade youths from getting attracted to Maoists. Tribal youths were being given special counseling and being involved in skill development programmes.
