Efforts to form ‘Grand Alliance’ in Khammam MLC elections

Khammam: Efforts are being made to form “Grand Alliance” in Khammam MLC elections from local bodies. The Left parties began its plan of soon after the Left parties declared the candidature of CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao. Senior leaders of Left parties had already met PCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on extending support to the Left parties’ candidate in Khammam.

Congress support to Left parties is a key factor and the fight will be tug-of-war if the party extended support to Left parties in the MLC elections. Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar and son of CPI candidate Puvvada Nageswara Rao told the CPI leaders take the assent of PCC leaders first on it.

Telugu Desam leaders in Telangana were already approached by local CPI leaders on the support to Puvvada Nageswara Rao. Sources said that Telugu Desam left the issue to the district leaders and they can take a decision on it. Though some of the TD leaders planned to field a candidate from the party but they reportedly decided to extend support to CPI leader. On the question of alliance with BJP, a TD leader said, “It is local body election and his party can take any decision on such issues. The alliance with BJP is not a barrier at all. It is party of game plans”. YSRC state president P Srinivasa Reddy was also approached by CPI leaders.
