Central team visits rain hit areas in Puducherry
Puducherry: The nine-member central team headed by TVSN Prasad IAS, joint secretary in the Union home ministry visited rain hit areas in Puducherry.
The team comprising senior officials from departments of agriculture, finance, health, power, rural development, drinking water and water resources, visited places affected by heavy rains and assessed the damages to crops, roads and other physical infrastructure.
Later, the team met Chief Minister N. Rangasamyi n his office and the CM impressed upon the team to ensure a prompt submission of the report in order to get central assistance soon. The team also had meetings with the chief secretary and other senior officials of the government to discuss relief measures. Earlier, the CM had written to the Prime Minister seeking an assistance of Rs 182.45 crore for the UT for taking necessary flood relief measures.
