200 police personnel to donate their organs
KOZHIKODE: As many as 200 police personnel under Nadapuram police sub-division have expressed willingness to donate their organs as part of a project under the banner of a volunteer group. The project is associated with ‘Vrikkakoru Thanal’ exhibition to be held in Nadapuram government U.P school on December 5, 6, 7.
“We want to set an example for others to donate organs. We hope that awareness and need for organ donation will be highlighted by this gesture,” said Nadapuram Deputy Superintendent of police (DYSP), M.P Premdas.
The exhibition is being conducted by a volunteer group based in Nadapuram to spread awareness on kidney diseases, dialysis treatment, other lifestyle diseases, organ donation, etc.
Vadakara, Nadapuram areas have seen a steep rise in the number of kidney patients recently.
The police personnel include those from Perambara, Thottilpalam, Kuttiyadi, Nadapuram, Valayam, Peruvannamuzhi and Edachery stations. In the first phase, 25 cops have handed over the signed document expressing willingness to donate organs to Nadapuram MLA, E.K Vijayan.
Nadapuram gram panchayat president, M.K Safeera, Abdulla Vayaloli, E.P Aboobakar Haji, Mohammad Banglath, M.P Soopy, C.K Nasar, V.C Ikbal among others who were present at the function held at Nadapuram police station.
