Fateh Football Club flop on debut at home
Defensive lapses gifted Gangtok three more opportunites in the next seven minutes
Hyderabad: The Fateh Hyderabad Associated Football Club’s much-awaited home debut turned out to be a damp squib after they lost 0-2 to the visiting Gangtok Himalayan SC at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Despite having the lion’s share of possession (almost 70 per cent), Hyderabad were unable to take advantage and instead, let Gangtok run away to an early lead.
Ong Tshering Lepcha scored the opener for the visitors in the 18th minute when he burst through the defensive line-up and sent the ball thundering in past the goalkeeper.
Defensive lapses gifted Gangtok three more opportunites in the next seven minutes. Baba Tunde then doubled his team’s tally in the 40th minute when he chested down a brillianht cross and tapped the ball in. The visitors held on to the lead to win.
