Federation Cup to return from 2016

Top eight teams as per the standings after the completion of the league would be participating, Federation said
New Delhi: The All India Football Federation on Friday said it had decided at its executive committee meeting here on the day to revive the Federation Cup from next year, saying the top-eight I-League teams would compete in the tournament.
In a statement, the federation said, “As per suggestions given by the I-league Committee and after consultation with AFC, (it was) decided to hold the Federation Cup on a home and away basis for the season 2015/16. The top eight teams as per the standings after the completion of the league would be participating in the Federation Cup.”
The Federation Cup was scrapped this year, teh latest of a long line of domestic tournaments to have been shelved in favour of the ISL and the I-League.
