Oommen Chandy wakes up late to RSS article

The Chief Minister's response comes in the wake of opposition allegation that he was going soft on “Hindutva.”
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a belated response to the RSS mouthpiece Organiser’s article which denigrated Malayalis, their life style, culture and eating habit, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy flayed the Sangh Parivar for spreading falsehood and humiliating Malayalees world over.
In a statement here, Mr Chandy said the RSS agenda was to divide people on religious and communal lines and their attempts would be defeated by people of the state.
The Chief Minister accused the author of the article “Kerala: God’s own country or Godless country” of twisting history, hiding facts and his article had shocked Malayalis not only in Kerala but across the globe. There is an attempt to inject communalism, he said.

“The beauty and strength of Indian democracy is its plurality. Many activities are taking place in the country to destroy this plurality. President Pranab Mukherjee had cautioned the nation four times against communalism,” he addded.
CM Chandy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was facing huge protests in countries that he is visiting. “He should see the simmering divisive tendencies and take steps to check its spread to other areas,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Swami Nitya Chaithanya Yati had described Kerala as God’s wonderful garden. “My only appeal is that no one should sow the seeds of hatred in this garden. There shouldn't be any attempt to undo the achievements of the state in various fields over the past several decades,” he added.
