KOLLAM: Chief minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the ninth edition of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) at Cantonment ground here on December 1.
The State level inaugural function of the GKSF is being hosted by the district for the first time. A.A. Aziz MLA will act as the working chairman, while the district collector will be the convenor of the event.
“This is the first time the district is hosting the inaugural function of the GKSF. Free passes will be distributed through media offices, people’s representatives, GKSF sponsors, merchant association representatives, government offices etc. Setting up a public counter to distribute passes is also under consideration,” Grand Kerala Shopping Festival director Anil Mohammed said.
Kitty shows will be organised at various spots in the district for the publicity of the event. The event will be presided over by the Tourism minister AP Anilkumar. Prizes worth '15 crore will be distributed to lucky shoppers through coupons.
