Techie’s wife is found dead, victim’s kin allege murder
Hyderabad: A software engineer’s wife was found dead in suspicious circumstance in their flat at Kukatpally on Friday.
While Mr A. Mohan Reddy, claimed that his wife, J. Prasanna,28, had committed suicide, the victim’s parents alleged that she had been strangulated to death.
The couple, natives of Kurnool, had got married two years ago and have a one-and-half year old daughter. The Kukatpally police, who suspect it was a suicide due to dowry harassment, has booked a case against Mr Mohan for dowry death and has taken him in custody.
As per allegations by Prasanna’s father, Mr Mohan and his mother had been harassing her for additional dowry and he killed her eventually. He said that two months ago, Prasanna had to leave their apartment in Saibabanagar and move into her sister’s house in Kurnool as she could not bear the torture. However, she returned after elders intervened.
Mr Mohan admitted that he had a quarrel with his wife on Thursday night, but said that he was sleeping in another room when she allegedly hanged herself.
“His mother had visited them few days ago. She and Prasanna had got into some quarrel, following which Mohan dropped his mother back to her house. Later, he started a fight with Prasanna and we suspect it was a physical assault. She must have then hanged herself,” said Kukatpally ACP N. Bhujanga Rao.
Prasanna, who was also working as a software engineer, had resigned her job after marriage.
