Hyderabad police bust drug racket, 6 held
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police on Friday busted two drug rackets by arresting a Ghana national and another five-member students’ gang led by an 18-year-old Intermediate student.
Cops recovered 50 gm of cocaine from the Ghana peddler named Adefule Michael while he was waiting for customers near Secunderabad Club. Meanwhile 207 stamps of LSD worth lakhs and 10 gm of charas were recovered from the students’ gang.
Police officials said Michael used to smuggle drugs from Mumbai to Hyderabad and that he had a vast network of customers including several students. Customers would call him on the cell phone and use passwords like “Book”, “Charlie” etc. to make deals. Cops said that the students’ gang leader was 18-year-old Kerala native Akshay Kannoli, who used to smuggle LSD from Goa and also purchase it from Michael to sell it in his friend circle for a higher price.
Akshay, who is an Intermediate second year student in a private college in Secunderabad, lives in Vivekanandapuram in Secunderabad with his family.
“Akshay also used to buy cocaine from Michael for his personal consumption. He would buy one stump of LSD from Goa or from Michael for Rs 600 and sell it to his friends for Rs 1,700,” said Mr B. Limba Reddy, DCP of Commissioner’s Task Force.
Michael had arrived in India in 2012 on a business visa and had started exporting clothes from Mumbai and Hyderabad to his country.
