The two had filed applications for withdrawal of their divorce by mutual consent
Mumbai: The divorce proceedings of Karisma Kapoor and her Delhi-based businessman husband Sunjay Kapur fell through on Friday, with both parties withdrawing their consent terms. The couple's decade-long marriage stands, though they are estranged.
According to reports, Karisma had filed the application to withdraw her consent as Sunjay had not complied with the financial obligations seeking the welfare of his children. There were certain obligations assigned to each of them and Sunjay did not comply with them.
During the proceedings on Friday, Sunjay was made to communicate with the marriage counsellor via video conferencing, following which a report was filed before the judge.
When a petition is filed through mutual consent plea, there is a six-month cooling off period to give time to both sides for a rethink. If they still want to split, divorce is granted. Karisma and Sunjay tied the knot in 2003 but their marriage did not work for long. Karisma moved out of her husband's house in 2009 and returned to Mumbai.
