Now, dress code for men in temple

Dress code is essentially for boys and men who come to the temple with bare upper bodies

Lucknow: After the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, it is now the famous Mankameshwar temple in Lucknow that has imposed a dress code for pilgrims. Mahant Divyagiri of Mankameshwar temple said that the dress code is essentially for boys and men who come to the temple with bare upper bodies or just wearing a vest.

“Some of them wear boxers or shorts to the temple and this makes the female devotees visibly uncomfortable. From Thursday, we have imposed the dress code. Ten volunteers will ensure that the dress code is followed on weekdays and 50 volunteers will be deployed on Mondays when there is a huge rush of pilgrims”, said Mahant Divyagiri.

On Thursday, a number of pilgrims who came wearing sleeveless vests and shorts, were politely informed about the dress code. Some of them protested but the volunteers remained firm.
