Cyberabad Police sets up tea stall, rehabilitate criminal
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police has helped notorious criminal Prasad Reddy, who has been out on bail since August 2015, by setting up a tea stall at LB Nagar X-roads on Thursday.
Prasad is involved in 18 murders and 10 attempts to murder cases and in around 100 theft cases. He was convicted in most of the cases and has also served prison sentences. Ten cases are pending trial.
Allagadda Prasad Reddy, 45, a native of Giddalur in Prakasam district dropped out of school in Class VIII due to poverty and joined the Maoists in 1990.
During this time, his relatives were murdered by rivals and he and his relatives killed the murderers with bombs. Prasad landed in prison for this. But after release he continued his faction activities.
He was later imprisoned in many cases and during his prison stints he built up contacts and committed offences every time he was released. He was arrested in nearly 150 cases, most of them physical attacks.

In August 2015, after he was released from the Chanchalguda prison in a murder case, he met Cyberabad Commiss-ioner C.V. Anand and requested him for rehabilitation. “I was fed up of life and wanted peace. My family was never happy with me. As soon as I requested the commissioner made arrangements. Now I am free from all tensions and I will work hard to lead a happy life and make my family happy,” said Prasad, a father of two sons.
He also has plans to expand his tea stall to a hotel and provide meals. Cyberabad police has rehabilitated six notorious criminals. Funds allotted for the maintenance of CCS police stations is partly used for the rehabilitation of criminals.
“Our aim is not punishing, but reforming criminals. That is the way we think crime can be minimised. We are ready to help other criminals who want to change themselves and lead a good life,” said Cyberabad DCP (Crimes) Naveen Kumar, who inaugurated the tea stall.
