Avinashilingam university students boycott exams
Coimbatore: Students of Avinashlingam university in Coimbatore staged a protest inside the campus and boycotted their exams on Thursday, demanding to release a student leader who is allegedly kept under the university management's custody.
A group of 200 students boycotted their internal exam and sought postponement of the exams as well.
R.Ranjani, student from the protest group told the DC, that their foremost demands is that the management drop the plan to make the university into a self-financing one.
“But right now, we demand to postpone the exams and the management has to tell us what happen to our friend Preethi, who was staying in college hostel, but has been missing for many days,” she said, adding, co-students fear that Preethi was being kept in secret a place by the management.
"She was the one who use to lead us, vigorously fighting against the management. So we suspect she would have been kidnapped and threatened by the management. The management has to tell us what happen to Preethi, or else we will lodge a police complaint against the management,” the distressed student said.
