No one has the right to ask me what happens in my bedroom: Sania Mirza

‘When you're a woman you have to fight a lot harder, it has nothing to do with India’

Mumbai: Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza is known not to mince her words while countering stern questions posed to her by the media. If her performance on the court, where she looks at the tennis ball almost like it’s a football, has been appreciated by all, Sania is also well-known to handle the media with utmost precision. In an interview with BBC, she spoke of her pain of being a woman in a “man’s world” and also warned people not to procure details of her family planning.

"When you're a woman you have to fight a lot harder," she says. "It has nothing to do with India. It has nothing to do with this side of the world. It's to do with the world," Sania said during the interview as part of the BBC's 100 Women Series.

Even after making her stance clear about her personal life, she repeatedly faces questions like, "When are you going to have children?" And Sania’s almost comes like a slap on the face.

"I find it extremely disrespectful to ask someone this question. Just because I'm a public figure, it does not give anyone the right to ask me what happens in my bedroom," said Sania.
