Vasanthakumar takes potshots at EVKS Elangovan

Chennai: Days after being removed from post of the president of trader’s wing of TNCC, Congress leader and businessman H. Vasanthakumar on Wednesday accused state president E.V.K.S. Elangovan of pursuing policy of vendetta and questioned his authority to remove him.
"I do not know why I was removed from the post of trader’s wing president. TNCC president do not have power to remove me from the post and to say I will continue as vice president of the state party. Elangovan has done it because of political vendetta,” Mr Vasanthakumar told reporters here.
Mr Elangovan on Monday removed businessman Vasanthakumar from the trader’s wing post stating that he was holding dual post — TNCC vice-president and trader’s wing president.
Vasanthakumar was one of the Congress leaders who went to Delhi to complain about the functioning of Elangovan and sought his removal from the TNCC chief’s post. Stating that he would continue to function as chief of party's traders cell, he said that he had written to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, and AICC TN in charge Mukul Wasnik about the unilateral decision of Mr Elangovan.
“I will continue to function as “official” president of the TNCC’s trader’s cell,” he said, adding that Elangovan’s action is against the party’s bylaw. Mr Vasanthakumar recalled that he was appointed as party’s trader wing chief in 1998 by AICC and he continued to occupy the post till date. He said that he continued to be in the trader’s body post under different TNCC presidents from Tindivanam Ramamurthy to B. S. Gnanadesikan and worked for the party’s development.
