Chennai: Child washed away in rain water canal
The body was later found in Chennai and rushed to a government hospital
Chennai: A child died on Tuesday after she was washed away in a rain water canal near Sriperumbudur. Sanjana, the one-year-old child, is the daughter of Vinod, a driver and Niveta. The mother had left the child alone at home when she went to buy groceries. At that time the child crawled to the back of the house where the canal water was flowing.
Sanjana then accidentally slipped and fell into the water. When the mother returned she found her child being pulled away by the water. Repeated shouts for help alerted the neighbours who came running to help but could not rescue the child.
The body was later found in Chennai and rushed to a government hospital. However, the child was declared dead on arrival. The Sriperumbadur police have registered a complaint and are investigating the case.
