Panic spread in Begum Bazar after hoax call

Anonymous caller informed about bomb in Begum Bazar

Hyderabad: Panic spread in Begum Bazar on Tuesday after an anonymous caller informed the police that a bomb had been found at Aziz Plaza.

A bomb detection squad and scores of security forces rushed to the place and searched thoroughly after evacuating the area, but found nothing. Cops are trying to identify the caller to book a case.

The call was received by the receptionist in Shah Inayath Gunj police station. “The caller said that there was an unidentified object in the parking place of Aziz Plaza, and that it was a bomb. The caller disconnected the phone without giving any details about his identity,” said a police official from West Zone.

A bomb detection squad was alerted and the police evacuated the highly populated market place. Sniffer dogs and officials searched the entire area for many hours but could not find any explosives.

“There were nothing dangerous in the premises. It was a hoax call, but we do not know the caller yet. Efforts are on to find out who was behind it,” said an officer.

The cops have been on alert following intelligence inputs after the recent Paris and Mali attacks.
