Kochi corporation council to consider smart city draft today
KOCHI: A stake-holder meeting of the Smart City project of Kochi city was held on Tuesday to discuss the issues and projects to be covered before the submission of the final draft of the report to the Kochi corporation on Tuesday. The council will discuss the draft in a meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by representatives of beneficiaries and various agencies to be entrusted with the implementation of the projects under the proposed Smart City.
The project has to be submitted to the Union government by December 15 after the approval of corporation council and the high power committee headed by the chief secretary.
Kochi was the only city from Kerala shortlisted by the union government for the smart city project. The city will have to compete with other cities in the country to be amongst first 20 cities to be selected by the union government for the implementation of the project.
Mayor Soumini Jain, district collector M.C. Rajamanickam, deputy mayor T.J. Vinod and several others attended the meeting on Tuesday.
