Debris piles up along Metro route in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Debris like mud, sand and loose rocks has not been removed along the Metro Rail junctions at Begumpet, Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills and also near Secunderabad as officials claim that some pending works are still going on. With permissions for right of way of the Metro Rail not being given at stretches, a lot of construction material and vehicles have been left on the roadside.
A senior Metro Rail official said, “Clearing sand and loose rocks is the work of the contractor, but if it is not supervised properly in some places, it is left. In other places there is some material kept for reuse later.”
As traffic can’t be blocked, the engineers on site claim that minimum material is kept at the work sites. Most of the material arrives at night and is used as there’s no place on the roads. Despite this, the roads from Musheerabad to Gandhi Hospital, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills and Lakdi-ka-Pul are in a bad shape.
Subhash Rao, a petrol pump owner at Musheerabad, said, “Many cars are damaged due to these bad roads. The Metro Rail officers only level their area and go away. But the other part of the road is uneven. Who will do that part?”
With motorists and pedestrians suffering due to bad roads, the condition has got worse instead of improving, feel citizens who are subjected to turmoil on a daily basis.
