Supreme Court asks Karnataka, Jayalalithaa to submit issues for determination

The Bench granted time to the parties till January 8, 2016
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Karnataka government, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and others to submit by January 8, 2016 the relevant issues for determination in the appeals filed challenging the acquittal of Ms Jayalalithaa and three others in the Rs 66 crore assets case by the Karnataka High Court.
A Bench of Justices Pinaki Chandra Ghose and R.K. Agrawal told senior counsel Dushyant Dave and B.V. Acharya, for Karnataka, senior counsel T.R. Andhyarujina for DMK General Secretary, K. Anbazhagan, senior counsel L. Nageswara Rao and Shekar Naphade for Ms Jayalalithaa and others to give written submissions on the issues to be decided in the appeals. When Mr Naphade and Mr Rao raised preliminary objections on the locus standi of Karnataka and DMK general secretary to file the appeals, the Bench said maintainability could also be raised in the written submissions. The Bench granted time to the parties till January 8, 2016 for filling the submissions and adjourned the proceedings till then. The Bench said once the issues to be decided are known, then the court fix a day-to-day hearing preferably in February for disposal of the appeals.
