Prakasam ZP chief: It’s all about integrity
Ongole: While a majority of people’s representatives and officials think nothing of using vehicles provided them for official use for personal work, Prakasam district ZP chairman Edara Haribabu showed that there are still people of integrity amongst us.
Mr Haribabu paid Rs 2,000 to the treasury for using a vehicle assigned to him for official work to attend wedding functions and ceremonies for two days recently.
He also stood under the scorching sun for 20 minutes as penance for using the state vehicle for personal work, during lunch break when the ZP general body meeting was in progress at Ongole on Monday.
Mr Haribabu, who introduced various reforms in the Zilla Parishad recently, said his penance and imposing a fine on himself are all part of the reforms. He urged ZP members to become role models through self-discipline.
The ZP chief thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for declaring Prakasam as drought-hit district based on a resolution passed by the general body some time back. Meanwhile, the meeting passed a Rs 18,42,19,144 Budget for 2016-17.
