Narendra Modi to unveil R Sankar statue on December 15
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state for the first time after taking over the reins of NDA Government at the centre, on December 15.
He will unveil the statue of R Sankar in Kollam on that day. “We have received intimation from the Prime Minister’s Office that Modiji would be visiting the state on December 15. The statue of R Sankar will be unveiled on the same day,” BJP state president V Muraleedharan told DC.
SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan had personally invited Modi on October 1 to unveil the statue of Sankar.
The Prime Minister’s visit is considered politically significant as it comes at a time when SNDP is all set to announce a political outfit after his Samatwa Munneta yatra on December 5.
Sankar, an ardent follower of Sree Narayana Guru, had made valuable contributions for the uplift of down trodden sections. As founder of SN Trust, it was Sankar who started 14 higher education institutions.
