Karnataka: JD(S) on mission to bond with Congress
BENGALURU: This is one deal which leaders of JD (S) are anxious to clinch, for it would help them bond better with the ruling Congress in Karnataka.
Therefore, leaving nothing to chance, JD (S) MLAs B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan and Akhand Srinivasamurthy met Congress general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Digvijay Singh at Kempegowda International Airport on Monday, with a suggestion that it would be appropriate for both parties to have an alliance during forthcoming elections to the Legislative Council.
They assured Mr Singh that JD(S) would support the Congress in all 20 seats, which it would be contesting. “Though Mr Singh heard their version, he did not divulge anything, saying he would look into their proposal,” disclosed a senior Congress leader.
Close on the heels of a tete-a-tete between JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and CM Siddaramaiah, it’s anybody’s guess whether this deal is being pursued by the JD(S) or the Congress.
