Intermediate exams from March 2 in Telangana

Tests advanced to facilitate IIT-JEE preparation

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has advanced Intermediate examinations (theory) by nine days compared to last year to give students enough time for IIT-JEE preparation.

The government has decided to hold Intermediate examinations from March 2, 2016. In 2015 the exams were held on March 11.

The JEE (main) exam is scheduled for April 3, 2016. Students and parents had urged the government to ensure at least three weeks is available after Intermediate exams to prepare for JEE. The government accepted the demand and revised the Intermediate timetable accordingly.

The TS Board of Intermediate Education on Monday released the timetable for the Inter first and second year exams. The Board has scheduled Inter exams for students taking JEE (main) exam in such a way that they can complete Maths and Science exams by March 16 so that three weeks are available for JEE preparation. As per the schedule issued by the Board the first year exams will be held from March 2 to March 19 and second year exams from March 3 to March 21. Practical exams will be held from February 3 to 24.

Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari who holds the education portfolio said the government had received several representations from students, parents and teachers over advancing Inter exams to the first week of March so that students get at least three weeks to prepare for JEE (Main). Last year, with Inter exams commencing late, students had just a week to prepare for JEE (Main) and they faced problems.
