CM Oommen Chandy flays yatra, VS Achuthanandan says it will attain ‘jala samadhi’

"Vellapally will be clad in khakhi shorts and white shirt of RSS," Achuthanadan said

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Samatwa Munneta Yatra being led by SNDP general secretary Vellapally Natesan from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram came in for sharp attacks from UDF and LDF leaders with both fronts accusing him of implementing the divisive agenda of the RSS in the state.

KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran criticised Vellapally for taking out the march which, according to him, was aimed at creating communal division in the state. "The SNDP leader is trying to push the RSS agenda in the state to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere," he said.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Vellapally was misusing an organisation like SNDP Yogam which stood for high ideals like secularism, brotherhood and peace, for his vested political interests. His yatra would only create a divide among people.

Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan, who inaugurated a march in front of the secretariat demanding a probe into the irregularities of Vellapally Natesan, said the SNDP chief's Samatwa Munneta Yatra would attain "jala samadhi" when it reaches Shanghumughom beach on December 6.

He said Vellapally's attire would change the moment he entered Attingal. "Vellapally will be clad in khakhi shorts and white shirt of RSS," Achuthanadan said. He asked Vellapally to return the money siphoned off from poor community members for appointments and admissions in institutions run by SN Trust and also from microfinance schemes.

The veteran leader said the people of the state would see through the divisive agenda of the RSS and the attempts of Vellapally to help the Sangh Parivar create religious polarisation in the state. He urged the democratic and secular forces to stand united and fight against forces of hatred.
