The police did not allow the protesters to go towards Vidhana Soudha in view of prohibitory orders

Bengaluru: Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party workers took out a rally here on Monday protesting against the breakdown of law and order in the state. The protesters, led by former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and state BJP president Prahlad Joshi, had planned to lay siege to Vidhana Soudha.

But the police did not allow the protesters to go towards Vidhana Soudha in view of prohibitory orders following the ongoing session. The police had put up barricades near Maurya hotel and prevented the agitators from marching towards the Soudha.

Wordy duel

This resulted in a wordy duel between police and BJP workers. The police arrested Mr Yeddyurappa, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, former deputy chief minister R Ashok and Prahlad Joshi and took them in a bus. They raised anti- government slogans.

Later, a group of senior BJP leaders went in a delegation, met governor Vajubhai Vala and submitted a memorandum to him. They sought his intervention in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
