94 ghats for Krishna Pushkaralu 2016
Hyderabad: The Telangana government will set up 34 Pushkar ghats in Nalgonda district and 60 in Mahbubnagar district for the Krishna Pushkaralu of 2016.
It is estimated that 1.25 crore devotees would take holy dip in the Krishna river in Nalgonda and 3 crore in Mahbubnagar. The government is planning to spend around Rs 300 crore for the first Krishna Pushkaralu in Telangana.
Endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy held a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday to finalise locations for the Pushkar ghat and arrangements for Krishna Pushkaralu. Ministers and MLAs from Nalgonda district and officials participated in the meeting.
Mr Reddy asked the officials to submit proposals regarding the funds that would be required to set up the ghats and to make arrangements for devotees by month-end. The same would then be sent to the CMO for approval.
