Amitabh Bachchan reveals he is surviving on 25 percent of his liver

However, the star also said he would be on-board if the illness can be 'interestingly' infused into the story.
Talking about a film on the topic, he said,“You pay 2,000 rupees to watch a film in a multiplex, you don’t want to see hepatitis B or tuberculosis."
He also said that he felt it was easier to make documentaries on social issues and diseases than have commercial films on such subjects.
When asked if he would be willing to star in a film which would spread awareness on the disease, Bachchan said, “Cinema is an entertainment medium. I wouldn’t mind doing a documentary.”
The actor also complimented the efforts of doctors and workers who go deep into rural areas to administer vaccine doses.
After revealing the bad news, he went on to give the media some good news. He said, "The good part is you can survive even with 12%. But no one wants to get to that stage."
Amitabh further said, “In 2000, 18 years after that event, we during a very normal medical check-up, I was told that my liver was infected and I had lost 75 per cent of my liver. So, if I am standing here today, you are looking at a person who is
“When I was in hospital, there were about 200 donors, whose blood was used. One of the donors was carrying hepatitis B virus which entered my system," he said at the event.
At the event, which was launched in collaboration with the UNICEF, Big B revealed that he is a survivor of Hepatitis B, which he contracted as a consequence of his famous accident on the sets of 1983 film 'Coolie'
Speaking at the event, union health minister JP Nadda said 3% of the population has the virus but it takes an estimated 15-18 years to manifest.
In an attempt to boost the ministry of health and family welfare's awareness campaign on Hepatitis B, the Bollywood star confessed that he has been undergoing treatment for the virus, for the past 20 years.
