‘Airlift and Argo are different and can’t be compared’: Akshay Kumar
Mumbai: Bollywood’s Khotron ka Khiladi is all set to mesmerize his fans with his next film ‘Airlift’, which depicts the story of how India evacuated Indians from Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war.
After the film’s teaser released online, people started to compare Akshay’s upcoming film ‘Airlift’ with Hollywood actor Ben Affleck’s film ‘Argo’, which bagged an Oscar.
To put all the rumours to rest, Akshay Kumar broke his silence over the speculations by saying that the film is a complete original story and can’t be compared to ‘Argo’.
“This is a complete original story and non-fictional. ‘Airlift’ is about a Kuwait-based businessman who was stuck along with more than a lakh people who were staying in Kuwait at that time (1990). ‘Airlift’ and ‘Argo’ are different and can’t be compared,” said Akshay Kumar.
Actress Nirmat Kaur, who stars opposite Akshay in ‘Airlift’, added, “‘Argo’ is a very small scale operation and it’s very specific. Both are different incidents and there is no resemblance between the two.”
The film revolves around Akshay, who plays the role of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman. It is based on real incidents set in 1990 in Kuwait the time of famous Gulf war when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. He is supposed to help evacuate 1,70,000 people from Kuwait to India.
By the looks of it, the actor has broken away from his action avatar completely for this film. Though the film is essentially a thriller, the only action scenes are the movie’s war sequences.
