Tirumala: Landslides jam ghat road
The TTD engineering staff removed the rocks with the help of a JCB till which time vehicles were stopped at the Alipiri checkpoint
TIRUMALA: Water entered many shops located in low-lying areas in Tirumala and there was hardly any business for the shopkeepers following the rains.
“Tirumala has recorded heavy rainfall of 1,049 mm this year. Of this 650 mm has been recorded in November till date, up from the usual 300 mm,” said TTD water board EE Narsimhamurthy.
Meanwhile, fresh landslides occurred on the second ghat road on Sunday at the 11 km point, which is before the link road. Traffic was disrupted for a few hours thanks to boulders blocking the road.

Traffic was being allowed through the link road to reach Tirumala as the second ghat road was completely damaged due to landslides.
RTC R.M. Nagasivudu visited the ghat road and deployed staff from Mokali Mettu to the top turning of Tirumala to avoid accidents as vehicles were plying only along the first ghat road.
