Hyderabad: With the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll coming to an end, with the ruling TRS predicted to win, the TD-BJP combine, which has decided to ally for the GHMC polls, will start scripting a strategy starting from Monday to bag a majority of the seats.
It is a fact that the TRS could win only three Assembly seats in the GHMC limits and is now planning to go to polls with an understanding with the Majlis which won seven seats in the last Assembly elections.
“TD got 10 Assembly seats from the city last time, TD was always a favourite of Hyderabadis, as we strive for development of the city like no one else,” GHMC TD president and MLA Maganti Gopinath told DC on Sunday.
He said that the ruling TRS, which has four ministers from the city, should remember that Hyderabad polls will be a different ballgame.
“Starting Monday, TD-BJP leaders will prepare a common strategy against TRS-Majlis combine. We will take up several issues concerning the city and the failures of TRS government in the last 18 months,” Mr Gopinath said.
BJP leaders have already collected data on various schemes and funds the Centre has pumped into Hyderabad for development and declaring it a Smart city.
“Centre has released several hundred crore rupees to Hyderabad during the last 18 months. In every scheme and project, the Centre has a lion’s share. TRS government’s negligence in spending the funds and implementing the schemes will be a major election issue for us,” BJP’s N.V.S.S. Prabhakar said.
