Telangana: Post-encounter peace prevails

The police has intensified vigil to thwart any attacks by the Maoists
WARANGAL: Since the encounter of two Maoists near Govindaraopet mandal in September, there has not been much Maoist activity in Warangal district. Even the forest area in Eturnagaram mandal, which was once a hotbed of Maoist activity, has been peaceful. Police sources said that Maoists had not entered the district since the encounter at Govindaraopet.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha by-election in the district, the police has intensified vigil to thwart any attacks by the Maoists. Frequent combing operations are being undertaken in forest areas and in villages where Maoists might take shelter.
Heavy security has been arranged at polling booths in areas listed as sensitive and very sensitive near Chityal, Parkal, Bhupalpally and other areas.
Rural SP Ambar Kishor Jha has declared ahead of the polls that there is nothing for the voters to fear. Earlier too Mr Jha had taken up drives to bring back Maoists into the general fold.
He had asked the ultras to forsake violence and lead peaceful lives for which he had said that the police department would fully cooperate and the government too would provide them with facilities to lead normal lives.
He had also met family members of some of the Maoists in the district and asked them to urge their loved ones to leave violence and led normal lives.
