Khokhar case: No headway

Police to continue probe, not to file closure report anytime soon

Bengaluru: A year into the sensational murder case of Air Commodore (Retd) Parvez Hamilton Khokhar, the Bengaluru Rural police have no clues on the assailants. It appears that the police have lost all hopes as the exhaustive investigation has not yielded any result.

Mr Khokhar, 71, who also served as air attaché at the Indian mission in Islamabad for four years, was found murdered at his sprawling villa at Smilee Greens Estate Club on Huskur Road off Hosur Road on the outskirts of the city on November 24, 2014. The assailants had tied his hands and legs, gagged him and had strangled him to death.

The police, who stared the probe into the high-profile murder, made efforts to get some clues about the perpetrators, but their investigation skills have fallen short. The police probed different angles including family dispute, property dispute, murder for gain, old rivalry, extra-marital affair and a few others. Though the police could not pinpoint any one reason, they strongly suspect that it’s a clear case of murder for gain gone wrong.

A senior police officer said that the investigation was exhaustive, but it did not pay off. “We hope that we will catch the culprits someday, as there have been many instances of cases being solved years after the incident. Even a year after the murder, the Central Range IGP and SP still ask us about the progress in the case during weekly meetings.

We are determined to put some more efforts before giving up on the case. There are no chances of filing ‘C’ report in the case anytime soon.” he said. Bengaluru Rural SP Ramesh B. said, “So many angles were probed in the case, and ultimately nothing worked out. However, we are continuing the investigation.”
