Kerala Congress (M) wants Biju’s hotel demolished
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Congress (M) has shot off a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy demanding that the government must take immediate steps to demolish Park Rajadhani, the hotel owned by Biju Ramesh, working president of the Bar Owners Association.
He has received a stay order from the High Court after the hotel was supposed to be knocked down under Operation Anantha.
Party general secretary Joseph M. Puthussery alleged that the government and Biju Ramesh are hand in glove.
The Thiruvananthapuram district administration, in its order on August 22, had said the Thekkanakara Canal was constructed after the encroachment which has to be demolished as per the Disaster Management Act of 2005. However, Biju Ramesh obtained a stay.
Puthussery, in his letter, alleged that the government is not taking any steps even as the period for filing an appeal to lift the stay is coming to a close.
"The revenue department is trying to hide the file (in this regard) till the period to file the appeal lapses. This is part of a conspiracy," alleged Puthussery.
Earlier, excise minister K. Babu had also complained to the chief minister that someone in the cabinet has been helping Biju Ramesh for putting the government under pressure in the bar case.
In the plea before the High Court, Biju Ramesh questioned the notice issued by the revenue divisional officer and maintained that there has been no complaint that the hotel is situated in an encroached area.
