Free WiFi in four KSRTC bus stands
Davangere: Commuters can from now onwards, access internet facility on their smart phones at important bus stands of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in the state.
The KSRTC is becoming customer-friendly by providing several facilities such as WiFi free of cost. It has entered into an agreement with a private company in this regard. The company has provided WiFi facility at four KSRTC bus stands in Davangere division. WiFi is working on an experimental basis at the four bus stands for the past 20 days. It has been installed at KSRTC bus stands in Davangere, Harihar, Chitradurga and Shivamogga. The facility will be available within a radius of 100 metres of these bus stands.
Commuters who have smart phones can avail the facility by downloading ON WIFI from Google play of the phone. About 50 MB or three hours of data can be obtained free of cost a day. Testing is going on for the past 20 days. The service is expected to be available to commuters from December this year or from January 2016.
Mr. Nagaraj, depot manager, Chitradurga, said that WiFi has been installed at the Chitradurga bus stand but this service has not started officially. It will be available to commuters free of cost.
