Decision on VS Achuthanandan at the time of poll: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram: Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Sunday that the decision on fielding Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan in the Assembly elections would be taken at that time.

The party should be allowed to choose its candidates, Mr Balakrishnan said. The CPM does not have the practice of facing elections after deciding the chief ministerial candidate.

The chief minister is decided by the CPM after the poll, he said. He also said the doors are still open for the Janata Dal (U) to come back to the LDF.

The RSS is behind the Samathwa Munnetta Yatra led by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan.

The RSS is aiming to spread its communal propaganda through this yatra. The RSS is trying to create communal violence, Mr Balakrishnan added.
