Rae Bareli and Meerut off smart cities list

Lucknow: The Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to withdraw Rae Bareli and Meerut from the list of smart cities until the centre clears its stand on the criteria for selection and omission.

The ministry of state urban development has asked the municipal heads of the two cities not to participate in the national level Smart City Workshop. The sudden hardening of stand by the Akhilesh government is bound to ruffle feathers in BJP and Congress.

 

The BJP had been pushing for the inclusion of Meerut in the list while the Congress was keen on Rae Bareli which is Congress preside
