Post flood, more CCTV cameras for Sabarimala

The various agencies have been asked to formulate a plan of action to be implemented at times like floods
Kochi: Close circuit cameras will be installed at various points in and around Sabarimala to enhance disaster management response and safety of pilgrims, revenue minister Adoor Prakash said on Saturday.
“The sudden rise in the water level in the Pampa the other day was an eye-opener for us. The government is taking steps to effectively tackle such situations and the Rs 35-lakh project is part of it. Besides me, the chief secretary and district collector would directly monitor the situation in the region using the CCTV cameras,” the minister said, while inaugurating an Emergency Operation Centre at Pampa.
The various agencies have been asked to formulate a plan of action to be implemented at times like floods. At such times, the Emergency Operation Centre will be converted into the nodal centre.
Also, the tractor staff and cleaning employees will be given training in emergency response. The forest department will relay messages regarding the water level inside forests at 11 am and 5 pm daily.
