GHMC elections: Error in survey, say BCs

According to the enumeration, the number of BC voters has fallen to 21% from 26% in 2009

Hyderabad: The door-to-door enumeration of BC voters being taken up in the city to determine reservations for BC candidates in the GHMC elections is embroiled in controversy.

According to the enumeration, the number of BC voters has fallen to 21 per cent from 26 per cent in 2009, contrary to expectations of a significant increase. BC organisations complain against the flawed enumeration which resulted in reduction in BC voters by six per cent over 2009, which would affect reservation of seats for them.

Huge variations were found in the number of BC voters in some wards. The latest enumeration found that only Uppal and Khairatabad had higher number of BC voters at over 31 per cent.
