Centre release funds for flood-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh

Two per cent of the Central Budget has been earmarked for natural calamities

Nellore: The Centre will release funds for flood-affected areas in the state, subject to submission of utility certificate for Rs 350 crore released in the past on account of State Disaster Relief Fund.

Two per cent of the Central Budget has been earmarked for natural calamities (National Disaster Relief Fund) and it will be given to the affected states if they have already spent the available SDRF and are short of funds.

Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu revealed this at Manubolu after inspecting the damaged NH-5 on Saturday. He said that he would request the PM to sanction Central funds to bail out the rain-hit in AP.

Mr Naidu said the Centre would depute a team to the flood-hit areas to assess the loss after receiving the damages report from the state.
