Chennai: Woman found dead, hubby, child missing

Fire-fighter husband refuses to answer calls

Chennai: A woman, Saranya, 25, was found murdered on Saturday morning and her husband, a firefighter, is absconding from the scene of crime along with their two-year-old daughter. The body was found in Kondithope at the couple’s official quarters by the deceased’s brother-in-law and her husband’s co-worker.
Suspicions arose after the husband, Senthil Kumar, 31, attached to the Washermenpet Fire Station, did not turn up for work on Friday night and refused to answer any phone calls after which his co-worker decided to check up on him at his house. The colleague also alerted Senthil Kumar’s elder brother, a constable, who went along.
The duo had to break open the door after finding it locked and found Saranya dead and frothing in the mouth. The two immediately alerted the Seven Wells police and the body was moved to Stanley hospital for a post-mortem. According to the police, no external injuries were found on the body and said that it would be difficult to determine whether the death was a murder or suicide until a full autopsy is done.
Senthil Kumar was last sighted by his neighbours on Friday night along with his daughter. The police are on a lookout for him. The couple was married in 2012 and since the death has happened within seven years of the marriage, the incident will be probed by Revenue Divisional Officers (RDO), who has already been informed about the case. While the cops are trying to trace Senthil Kumar, his phone continues to remain switched off. The postmortem is expected to be conducted on Sunday.
