A break from your ex

Users can untag themselves from all posts of their ex at one go

The new features on the social networking site would make Facebook usage after a break-up a less intimidating affair

Dealing with social media after a heart break can be painful. Seeing your ex post selfies and happy pictures is going to make you want to block/unfriend your ex or sometimes even discontinue your social media accounts. Facebook has now come up with a solution to dealing with an ex online post your break up with the option – ‘Let’s take a break’.

Facebook announced via a blogpost that it’ll be introducing a pilot version of the initiative on mobile that allows you to decide how much of your ex’s content you want to see on your timeline without having to block or unfriend them.

While Facebook friends endure a break up, they prefer to not go overboard by unfriending their ex. The new feature could help ease them into normaly and using social media without fear of opening old wounds.

When a Facebook user changes their relationship status to single, the social media network prompts to try the new feature that offers the choice of limiting pictures, videos and the number of status updates of your ex. Users can untag themselves from all posts of their ex at one go or take the time to choose the ones they want to untag themselves from.

Users’ ex’s name will also not appear in the suggested people to message or tag while making a post/uploading an image. The feature also helps in limiting your Facebook updates your ex sees about you on his timeline. By hiding posts from them, users’ ex will only be able to see posts that are shared publicly or posts that have them tagged in it. “This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives. We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control,” Kelly Winters, Product Manager.

The feature is now being tested on the mobile platform alone, in the U.S., but will exspand to desktop versions and other countries after getting feedback on the pilot version.
